The Danish Embassy is looking for a multilateral advisor

The Embassy of Denmark in the Netherlands is looking for a multilateral advisor to assist with our multilateral portfolio as well as other crosscutting tasks within the Embassy.
Main tasks and responsibilities
- Monitor and report on developments concerning the main international organisations in The Hague, such as the International Criminal Court and the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons.
- Participating in multilateral negotiations representing Denmark on a wide range of topics at these Organisations, including obtaining and executing instructions for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Copenhagen.
- Facilitating cooperation between the Organisations and relevant Danish Authorities.
- Organising and preparing visits to the Organisations by delegations from Denmark.
- Assisting with the general work of the political department of the Embassy and other task as may be required.
Qualifications & Competencies
- Advanced university degree in law, international politics or public administration or comparable field.
- Understanding of international affairs, international law and disarmament.
- Ability to communicate clearly, verbally and in writing, including analysis of complex problems.
- Ability to work in a multicultural environment independently and efficiently.
- A positive and pro-active attitude and the ability to work with multiple deadlines and periods with high workloads.
- Experience in working with the International Criminal Court and/or the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons is not required, but will be considered an asset.
- Proficiency in English and Danish is required; knowledge of French is considered an asset.
- Flexibility, team spirit and willingness to adapt to the changing needs of the Embassy.
Employment conditions
- We offer a two-year contract subject to a probation period, with the possibility of permanent employment.
- Standard working hours is 37 hours (5 days) per week.
- Salary will reflect relevant qualifications and experience.
