Are you studying law, international relations, public administration or another relevant political education and do you want an interesting part-time job at an embassy? Do you have a good command of both Dutch and English in word and writing? Then this vacancy is for you!
The Danish Embassy in The Hague represent Danish interests in The Netherlands and seeks to enhance the numerous close ties between our two countries. The embassy has 24 employees, nine of whom work at the political department. The department has both a bilateral and a multilateral team. You will mainly strengthen the bilateral team, but also assist other departments when needed. The bilateral team is mainly concerned with reporting on political developments in The Netherlands and Dutch positions in the EU with regard to for example foreign affairs, economic affairs, green transition and migration. Also, there will be a need to prepare reports to Copenhagen on Dutch legislation etc.
The strong bilateral relationship between Denmark and The Netherlands calls for a wide range of interesting activities and events. This will definitely also be the case in the second half of the year while Denmark holds the EU Presidency and the Embassy will be hosting Heads of Mission meetings with key voices in Dutch politics and society.
Main tasks
You will become acquainted with the diverse work of the Embassy through participating in daily activities. Your main tasks will consist of:
- Collecting background information and helping to draft reports to the Danish ministries.
- Following debates in the House of Representatives on topics relevant for Denmark.
- Helping with various other tasks, for example relating to the Embassy’s Social Media or when the Embassy is organising events.
Qualifications
- Relevant university education within law or possibly politics or economics etc.
- A positive, open-minded, pro-active attitude
- Full command of English and Dutch – both oral and written
- Great interpersonal skills, be able to build and maintain a network
- Team player abilities and be able to work independently and efficiently
- Interest in and willingness to share knowledge with – and learn from – colleagues
- Flexible and willing to adapt to the changing needs of the Embassy
Employment conditions
- We offer a temporary employment for a period of 6 months / 1 year, with the possibility of extension
- You will work 15-20 hours a week, which can be scheduled flexible from Monday to Friday
- You will receive a competitive salary

The chosen candidate must present a “No Criminal Record” and pass security clearance by the Danish authorities prior to the start of employment. You also need to be enrolled at a Dutch university during your employment at the Embassy.
