Denmark and the Netherlands have very close relations and extensive cooperation in a number of areas within politics, culture, trade and investment. The Netherlands is an important local market for Denmark. In 2020, they had a GDP of EUR 800 billion and is Denmark's seventh largest export market. In 2019-2020, Danish exports of goods increased by 13.3 percent. The purpose of the promotion is to support the growth and position of Danish companies in the Dutch market and to consolidate the close relations between Denmark and the Netherlands.

During the visit to the Netherlands, the Crown Prince and Crown Princess will participate at a business conference in The Hague and in visits to large Dutch companies and research institutions in Rotterdam and Leiden. The Crown Prince and Crown Princess will also participate in an official dinner with guests from Danish and Dutch companies and organizations.

Green energy

The Netherlands is facing a major green transition in the energy sector, backed by a national climate agreement. In addition, the current need to make Europe independent of Russian gas has underlined the relevance of both district heating and energy efficiency, as 88 percent of private homes in the Netherlands are heated with natural gas.

In 2021, renewable energy accounted for approximately 33 percent of the Netherlands’ consumption. The target in 2030 is 70 percent renewable energy to be supplied primarily from offshore wind turbines. Energy islands that combine wind energy and hydrogen production and other Power-to-X technologies are, as in Denmark, on the drawing board after 2030.

Denmark and the Netherlands are both countries with ambitious climate policies, and we have much to learn from each other when it comes to innovative and future-proof solutions to the societal challenges we face, not least in the climate field.

Digital health

The healthcare industry in the Netherlands is working towards digitized solutions supported by new legislation regarding electronic data exchange in the healthcare sector.

In the Netherlands, there is a strong tradition of innovation and the use of new technologies. The Netherlands has both strong Health Tech and Med Tech hubs, and many of the world's largest Med Tech companies are found in the Dutch market.

The most exciting areas for Danish Health Tech and Med Tech are e-health, including remote monitoring, help tools and online solutions aimed especially at those groups of the population who do not have such great digital skills.

Information about press release, final program, etc. will be published later.
