The Danish Embassy is looking for a Chef

Position: Chef
Type of employment: 20 hours per week, 1 year with the possibility of extension
Starting date: 1st of December 2025

We are looking for a talented and passionate chef to join the team of the Danish Embassy in the Netherlands. As our Chef, you will be responsible for preparing, cooking, and presenting high-quality lunches and dinners for the guests in the residence of the Danish Ambassador. The Ambassador is weekly hosting events such as lunches, dinners, and receptions. In addition to this, the Embassy organises bigger events and conferences.

 

As the Embassy Chef, you will be responsible for planning the menu, do the shopping and cook for our guests in close cooperation with the residence manager. Having experienced in gastronomy in the past 30 years, the Danish Embassy wants this to be reflected in the food we serve our guests.

 

Main tasks and responsibilities
• Menu planning, shopping and cooking for event at the Embassy
• Planning wine menu and keep the wine cellar of the Embassy stocked

Qualifications
• Proven experience as a Chef, with a strong track record in high-end restaurants or hotels
• Excellent knowledge of cooking techniques, ingredients, and cuisines
• A creative approach to menu design with a focus on seasonal products
• Experience with or interest in New Nordic cuisine is considered an asset
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekend

Employment conditions
• We offer a 1 year contract with the possibility of extension
• Your standard working hours will be20 hours per week. The working time will vary according to the needs of the season, and occasionally overtime should be expected.
• Your salary will reflect your responsibility, tasks, and previous experience
